Wolf has said that she learned a lot about comedy working for Seth Meyers and Trevor Noah. In April 2016, she joined The Daily Show with Trevor Noah as a contributor. Wolf is a regular at the Comedy Cellar in New York City.

In November 2015, Comedy Central released the entirety of Now Hiring, a web series hosted by Wolf, on YouTube. She later held additional positions on the same show, including, most recently, as writing supervisor. She re-appeared on numerous segments on Late Night, often as her fictional persona, 'Grown-Up Annie', an adult version of Little Orphan Annie. Her first appearance on late-night television was in July 2014, when she went on Late Night with Seth Meyers. Her frustration with the imperfect and ephemeral nature of improv and the encouragement from classmates got her to audit a stand-up class at the People's Improvisational Theater aka The PIT. Around the time of the buyout by JPMorgan, Wolf started improv classes at the Upright Citizens Brigade and the Peoples Improv Theater (PIT). Wolf was employed at Bear Stearns from 2007 to 2008, later at JPMorgan Chase, working for almost four years in mutual funds and managing accounts between the two banks. Wolf continues to run, and took part in a marathon in 2005 (Las Vegas), and a 50-mile (80 km) ultramarathon in 2018 at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah. She was on the track and field team while in high school and college, competing in the high jump and 400 meter and 800 meter runs before an injury caused her to stop competing. She graduated from the College of William & Mary in 2007, where she majored in kinesiology and was a member of the cardiovascular physiology lab. She graduated from Hershey High School in 2003. Wolf was born in Hershey, Pennsylvania, where she grew up with two older brothers.

In 2016 she completed an incredibly successful first appearance at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with a sold out run of her debut hour-long stand-up show “Michelle Wolf: So Brave.” The critically acclaimed show, which earned her a nomination for the Best Newcomer Prize from the Edinburgh Comedy Awards, garnered numerous four-star reviews from top publications such as the Guardian, Herald and Scotsman. Wolf headlines comedy clubs and colleges all over the country and has performed at a number of festivals including Outside Lands, Moontower, Bonnaroo, Just For Laughs Montreal, JFL 42 and the Dublin Comedy Festival. She received a Primetime Emmy nomination for 'Outstanding Writing For A Variety Special.' The well-reviewed special tackled a wide range of topics from her surprising thoughts on feminism, the environment and why Hilary Clinton could not be a “nice lady,” and more of life’s everyday absurdities. In 2017, Wolf debuted her first hour-long stand-up special, Michelle Wolf: Nice Lady, on HBO.

She is an avid long-distance runner in her limited free time. When not crisscrossing the nation on tour, Wolf lives in New York. Prior to The Break, Wolf was an on-air contributor and writer for Comedy Central’s The Daily Show with Trevor Noah and a writing supervisor and performer on Late Night with Seth Meyers, where she also made her late-night television debut in July 2014. Wolf created and served as the executive producer, writer, and host of the critically-acclaimed variety sketch series The Break with Michelle Wolf on Netflix. Previously, she made international headlines as the much buzzed-about headliner of the 2018 White House Correspondents Dinner. Michelle Wolf has quickly become one of the most influential voices in the comedy landscape with the Village Voice calling her “the voice comedy needs right now” and The Daily Beast declaring, “Michelle Wolf is the future of stand-up comedy.” Most recently, Wolf released her second hour-long stand-up special Michelle Wolf: Joke Show on Netflix.
